Online advertisement accessed by 83% of Romanian Internet users

The study conducted in Romania on online advertising shows that 83% of Romanian Internet users click on online advertisements.

Gemius SA, international research agency specialised in online studies, has made in May and June this year, the first research on Romanian market about the attitude of Internet users towards online advertisement. The research was conducted by Gemius & partners in seven European countries: the Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Ukraine. In Romania Gemius has done this kind of gemiusAdHoc study for the first time, in cooperation with Vodanet and ROL.ro.

The study proves that the most of Internet users in Romania have positive attitude towards online advertisement. When it comes to effectiveness of adverts over 53% of respondents in Romania consider online commercials to be "effective". One of the most relevant aspects of the study was that nearly 83% of the surveyed persons declared that they click on Internet advertisements. Additionally 87% of the respondents search for more information about the advertised product on the Internet, what confirms the importance of product websites and e-commerce services. What is more, Romanian Internet users declare that they would like to have the opportunity to purchase the advertised products straight after clicking the online advertisement and being re-directed to an online store's website (being asked if they would like to have such possibility - 10,4% declared - "definitely yes" and 34,5% declared "rather yes").

omparing to the other countries where Gemius has conducted the "Internet users' attitude towards advertisement" study, Romanian respondents in many aspects were the most open to the online commercials amidst the polled persons from all the countries researched by Gemius. Just to compare, the average percentage regarding the efficiency of online adverts was 39% (to 53% in Romania and the lowest indicator, 23% registered in Hungary.

Moreover, from all the other countries which participated in the study, Romania has the biggest percentage of Internet users that declare searching for additional information about advertised products online, the lowest being registered in Poland 65% .

These results indicate the huge influence of Internet as an excellent branding medium as well as for developing or improving new online services on Romanian online market.
