Can data collected by gemiusTraffic be used to identify Internet users?

  • gemiusTraffic does not collect personally identifiable data about Internet users. Only data regarding Internet browsers and the Internet user's computer is collected. This is used to determine what operating system, screen resolution, color depth, Internet browser, etc. the web site visitor is using, and to determine where (city, region or country) the user has connected from. It is impossible to identify any person on the basis of this data.
  • The cookies distributed and counted in the gemiusTraffic study do not represent actual individuals using the Internet - instead, they represent the Internet browser used by people to visit a web site. If an individual uses several browsers or several computers, that individual will have multiple cookies – one for each browser.
  • The claim that gemiusTraffic does not collect personally identifiable information has been verified through the independent expert auditing of a legal counselor. The term personally identifiable information is used as per article 2 Law of 29 August 1997 r. personal data protection /Journal of Laws No. 133 from 1997 as amended ./. Personally-identifiable information are information about a physical individual whose identify can be directly or indirectly determined, specifically through the use of a unique identification number or some other data describing physical, physiological, mental, cultural or social characteristics. gemiusTraffic does not gather such data.
