Why can a Referrer be a page from the same web site?

This situation can happen when:

• The time between Page Views was over 30 minutes. Example: an Internet user visited the main page of a web site and several sub-pages. Then he left his computer for 40 minutes and when he returned continued to move throughout the web site. gemiusTraffic records this as two Visits - with the Referrer for the second Visit being a page from the same web site.
